GROUPLOVE’s brand new album ‘I Want It All Right Now’ produced by John Congleton (Death Cab For Cutie, Wallows, St Vincent) is due for release 7th July at their new label home Glassnote Records, ahead of their stadium/arena tour with pop superstar P!nk. Los Angeles' GROUPLOVE blend a quirky, '90s-style indie rock sensibility with a spirited, arena-ready roar. It's a sound they debuted on 2011's Never Trust a Happy Song, which spawned the 1 billion streaming, number one Billboard Alternative Songs Chart hit "Tongue Tied" which went multi platinum in the USA and Gold in the UK, Australia + Canada. They have continued to straddle mainstream and indie success, playing festivals around the globe and remaining Top 20 Billboard Alternative chart regulars with albums like 2013's Spreading Rumours, 2020's Healer and 2021’s surprise album This Is This.
‘Hello’ was the last song we recorded on the last day of tracking the album in Los Angeles. It’s ironic that it is the first song to be released from the album. It almost never happened. We had started another song that just wasn’t feeling right and John Congleton asked us if we had anything else and we pulled out an idea that we had been working on. It’s funny because it feels so lighthearted, like a sing-along, but if you listen it’s all about feeling lost and alone and wanting so badly for people to look up and connect. Hannah had this idea for the video and surrounding photos where the entire band would be in a five person tuxedo. We had done something similar for Never Trust A Happy song with a five person t-shirt but we wanted to try something a bit more formal and elegant. The suit is symbolic of what it is like to be in a band, joyful and inspired at times but trapped and challenged at other times. The song and video really display the rollercoaster of emotions of life. We hope people will be inspired by the song to find deep connection with friends, family, art, music rather than be stifled by technology and social media. |
